Privacy Policy
This policy describes how personal information is handled across Tremor Audio's online store and the services that support it.
Who we are
This Privacy Policy explains how Tremor Audio collects, uses and protects personal information when you use our website or buy from us. Tremor Audio is an online store operating in New Zealand.
Information we collect
We may collect information you provide, including your name, email address, phone number, delivery or billing address, order details, account information, support messages, product reviews and marketing preferences.
We may also receive technical information needed to operate and protect the website, such as browser, device, network and search information.
How information is collected
Information may be collected when you browse or search the website, place an order, create or use a customer account, contact us, submit a review, or subscribe to communications. Our service providers may also collect information when they provide their part of the service.
How we use information
We may use personal information to:
- process, deliver and support orders;
- communicate about orders, accounts and customer-service requests;
- provide search, reviews and other website functions;
- maintain security, prevent fraud and resolve disputes;
- meet legal, tax and accounting obligations;
- send marketing communications where permitted; and
- understand and improve our services.
Shopify and ecommerce processing
Shopify provides our ecommerce platform, hosted checkout and customer accounts. When you place an order, use checkout or create an account, Shopify processes information needed to provide those services. Shopify's own privacy terms also apply to its processing.
Payment processing
Payments are handled through Shopify's hosted checkout and the payment option you select. We do not directly collect or store your full payment card details.
Afterpay and Gem Visa may process personal information under their own privacy terms when you choose those services. See our Finance page for current payment information.
Customer accounts
Customer accounts are hosted by Shopify. Tremor Audio does not operate a separate login system or store your account password. You are responsible for keeping your account access secure.
Reviews
Product reviews may be processed through Judge.me. If you submit a review, Judge.me may process the information supplied with it under its own privacy terms.
Search and technical services
Algolia provides product search, so search queries and related technical information may be sent to Algolia when you use search. Vercel provides website hosting and infrastructure services.
Marketing communications
Tremor Audio may send promotional or marketing communications where you have subscribed, opted in, or where otherwise permitted. Marketing emails will provide an unsubscribe option. Unsubscribing from marketing does not prevent service messages about an order or account.
Analytics and advertising technologies
We may use analytics and advertising technologies from time to time to understand website use and measure or improve advertising. These technologies are not necessarily active today. Where required, we will update this policy and introduce applicable consent controls when technologies are introduced.
Service providers
We share information with service providers only where reasonably needed to operate the store or provide a service you request. These providers include Shopify for ecommerce, checkout and accounts; Vercel for hosting; Algolia for search; Judge.me for reviews; and the payment provider selected at checkout.
We may also disclose information where required by law, or where reasonably necessary to protect customers, Tremor Audio or others. We do not sell personal information.
Data retention
We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected or as required by law.
Different information may be needed for different periods. This can include order, transaction and accounting records; warranty and support records; dispute and fraud records; customer-account information; and marketing preferences.
Access, correction and deletion
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information by emailing [email protected]. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
Where appropriate, information will be deleted or anonymised when there is no lawful reason to retain it. Some records may still need to be retained for legal obligations, tax or accounting, fraud prevention, warranty or support, dispute resolution, or other legitimate operational purposes.
Security
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information. No method of transmission or electronic storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Overseas processing
Some service providers may process or store information outside New Zealand. Where applicable, we take the steps required by New Zealand law when personal information is disclosed or processed overseas.
Children and contracting capacity
We do not impose an arbitrary minimum age for browsing the store. If a customer is not legally capable of entering a binding contract, a parent or guardian may need to place or approve the order.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The current version will be posted on this page.
